According to the Marxist theory, Marxist believes that humans cannot survive in isolation meaning that humans can only survive through the help of each other.
In Marxism, I photographed an image of a polaroid film where the polaroid film is consisting of a ripped envelope within a white background. The polaroid photo displays a dull image almost looking like the photo is of "nothing", this was meant to portray the polaroid photo as an isolated human being. The ripped envelope demonstrates the destruction of ones mind leading to the Marxist theory where this dull looking polaroid photo (the human) is being isolated and alone. Usually when people see a collection of polaroid photos, we imagine these photos portraying joyful memories, and subtle or bright vivid colours, however I wanted to do the opposite and create a dull polaroid photo and make only one polaroid image the main focal point to demonstrate isolation. This is also related to the movie “Inception” where the main character creates inception by instilling an idea into ones mind or by entering through their dreams. My photo demonstrates the concept of inception because this photograph enters through the idea of another photograph therefore leading to another concept altogether.
To successfully photograph this, I placed the polaroid film in the middle of the white background to clearly show that the polaroid photo, which is the human, is being isolated, therefore leading to death. The brightness of the photograph is displayed to show that even though people are isolated, the outside world may only be able to see their mask but not their true self.
