1. What aspect of your finished work do you find most successful?
In this photograph, the composition by having the electric box in the right-side of the photo makes the message of the phobia, scopophobia, very effective. It is shown that the electric box is being isolated and that it is camouflaged from peoples views. Another aspect that was successful are the tones of the colours, this brings out the vibrancy and the focal colour of the photo.
2. What aspect of your finished works do you find least successful and why?
One aspect that was the least successful was the arrangement and position of the photograph, the tree in front of the electric box makes it somewhat distracting to the viewers, therefore not making the focal point which is the electric box not effective.
3. If you had to complete this assignment again, what aspect would you change/improve on and why?
To complete this assignment again, I would focus on the angle of the photograph to remove anything distracting/clashing with the focal point of the photograph as well as using a DSLR to create a clear photo. From this, I learned to first evaluate the environment first and take multiple photos from different angles.
Photographic/digital manipulation techniques used in my works and how they support my intended visual messages:
Through editing my photograph in Photoshop CS6, I created adjustment layers to my photo to adjust the brightness/contrast, exposure, and vibrance. The adjustment layers allowed me to bring out the green colour of the leaves which made the focal point (the pattern of the leaves) more effective and present in the photo. The electric box is shown to have the same pattern as the plants behind it, this allowed the electric box to be camouflaged and merged with plants so that the electric cannot be seen from afar and makes my message of scopophobia a lot more clear, as the meaning of scopophobia means to have a fear of being seen or stared at.
