Part B) Photograph Written Analysis
I chose this photo to be my favourite photo because it consisted of many different elements such as the significant composition, colours, the focal point, background, and the vantage point. My photograph displays an image of a Canadian Geese family walking on top of a bridge at Richmond Green Park. This particular photo is a subject that I normally don’t photograph, however I still kept my style of photography in this photo. I decided to photograph this photo in this particular way because the way I positioned my vantage point gave a great angle of the geese, which made my photograph effective in terms of the composition. It also harmonized with the way the geese are positioned on the bridge while the gathering of the geese convey a joyful and inspiring photo. A few techniques I used to capture a great photo of these animals were to increase the shutter speed, understanding the histogram to see the amount of light and darkness involved in the photo, and recognizing the right placement of my focal point. By increasing the shutter speed, I constantly took multiple photos capture a clear photo, as the animals were moving quickly. By understanding my histogram, I was able to see how much light and darkness were involved in the photo, so that I was able to balance them together. I considered the technique of the rule of thirds and decided to place the geese in that specific position to make the photo a lot more pleasing to the viewers. I felt that this photo turned out to be very successful as I incorporated a number of different elements such as the significant composition, colours, the focal point, background, and the vantage point to create more visually appealing aspects to it. For taking photos outside, I would use the same processes and settings for a lot of my photos because I had received a number of great comments about this particular photo and to keep this style, I felt that using the same settings would continue this style as I would like to continue in the future.
