The tremendous technological advancements in our world has caused gradual alteration to devices and raw materials, which causes these altered products to become man-made, become a replacement of the original product, and dispose outdated products. As we know, many outdated products are very inexpensive than their upgraded remak, however it is somewhat different to raw materials such as quartz crystals.
In Mining, I photographed an image of clear quartz crystals, and dyed fabricated quartz crystals (Multi-coloured). These crystals are used to portray the gradual enhancements of raw materials, from clear crystals to fake crystals and how they have become of lesser value and rarity. We therefore "dispose" or neglect these quality materials for cheaper alternatives and negatively affecting the culture of the mining production. The bokeh affect is used to represent the beauty of these clear and coloured crystals, however the coloured crystals are in fact not real quartz crystals, but still leading consumers to buy these fake crystals. I utilized my phone camera to not completely focus on the crystals and achieve a bokeh effect on the photograph. I decided to use my phone to experiment with these types of photos and when I happen to find interesting images, I'll be able to take these pictures skillfully without and SLR camera.
