1. What aspect of your finished work do you find most successful?
The photograph's most successful aspect is its colour contrast. The colour contrast allows the viewers to determine that this is a photograph of a car speedometer while demonstrating speed (as the red dictates and points on the numbers).
2. What aspect of your finished works do you find least successful and why?
One aspect that was the least successful was the timing of taking the shot, if the red arrows were directing at 0 - 40km of the speedometer the message of tachophobia would be a lot more effective since it will show that a person is scared to go at high speeds on the road.
3. If you had to complete this assignment again, what aspect would you change/improve on and why?
If I were to complete this assignment again, I would focus on the timing and using a DSLR camera to take multiple photos by adjusting and decreasing the shutter speed to take faster photos, this allows me to take a shot of the speedometer when the speed is low.
Photographic/digital manipulation techniques used in my works and how they support my intended visual messages:
Through editing my photograph in Photoshop CS6, I created adjustment layers to my photo to adjust the contrast, gamma correction, and vibrance. The adjustment layers allowed me to bring out the red colour of the arrow on the speedometer which made the focal point (speed on the speedometer) more effective and present in the photo. These photographic and digital manipulation techniques made my message of tachophobia very effective by displaying the speedometer in dark and bold tones (which represent the darkness people suffer through this specific phobia).
